If there’s a better band to see live these days, I can’t guess who it might be.

Dan and I went to see Man Man at Neumos on 9/8/10, and it was almost as great as the first time I saw them two years ago at Bumbershoot. I mean, it was indoors and way more crowded and we didn’t show up early to get in the front row…

But all that aside, it was just as great a show. You must hear this band. But more importantly, you MUST see a show!

These pics don’t begin to do justice to their majesty. These are just to show how packed Neumos was for this incredible group of musicians.

At Ozzie’s and Skybox.

These first two are from Ozzie’s. The girl in the foreground reading the karaoke song-book actually recognized me from “Measure for Measure” which was the first time I’ve been randomly recognized in a non-theatre setting from a show in Seattle. So that was really cool.

Skybox wasn’t actually having karaoke that night, but some girls are very persuasive… The DJ acquiesced with the caveat that he’d cut her off if he didn’t like it.

She sang. He didn’t cut her off. The owner of the bar, whom we’d briefly met earlier, was walking out just as she started. He stopped and stood in the door to hear the whole song. When she was done, he smiled and applauded before leaving.

That was, frankly, way cooler than getting recognized from a play.

At the Gum Wall with a friend of Ben’s mom and a friend of a friend of Ben’s mom.

They were both delighted and appalled at the existence of such a wall. As we expected.
