04 30 2006…is my new hero.
I always admired his writing (and performing) on the brilliant social satire “Stangers With Candy,” and his work on “The Daily Show” was also sharp, even if the edge wasn’t quite as keen. But with his faux-right-wing “The Colbert Report” he’s dared go to a level “The Daily Show” can’t… or won’t.

I admire Colbert’s willingness to take his opportunity to speak, even knowing that this window he was given will likely slam shut now. Will he ever have these opportunities again, given what he did with them? Will another Bill Kristol ever appear on his show? Will he be addressing the White House Press Corps with George and Laura in attendance next year? Probably not. But he did a ballsy thing.
